short, free, pdf books that are perfect for early childhood or preschool kids
Happy Friday Party People! This week was Back to School for me, and I survived my first week! Lots of meetings, planning sessions, organizing my materials, training for the new web IEP program, etc. Yesterday the agency I work for brought in Sandi Gillam to speak with the SLPs about Narrative Language assessment and training. Really great stuff! And I've already written an evaluation report for an early access kiddo I'll be working with this year. Busy! I am in a different district this year, so I'm still getting to know the staff I'll be working with, but I am very much looking forward to this school year!
I wanted to quickly highlight a website someone I work with told me about. Tar Heel Reader is perfect for quickly finding easy and simple PDFs of short picture books. Users can submit their own books they've written, and you simply download the ones you'd like to use.
They open up in Power Point, so you can edit words, layout, etc. if you need to. You can also view the books directly on the website without downloading them. After you view the books, you can rate them from 1 to 3 stars.
Earlier this week I brought animal and farm-themed activities to my home visits, so I downloaded this Tar Heel Reader and opened it up in iBooks on the iPad. It was perfect! Check out Tar Heel Reader if you need any simple stories for your students :)

If you could have any animal as a pet, what would it be?
