August SLP Link Up

August has arrived. Can you believe it?! Let's kick the month off with the August SLP Link Up hosted by All Y'All Need! Click the link to find out how to participate and to read what others are up to this month.

BUYING: I'm buying pectin, lids, and half-pint jars. Peaches are in season and so amazingly perfect. And I have an abundance! I'm going to attempt to make jam for the first time alone. Here's hoping I don't end up ruining all those delicious peaches! What is your favorite recipe that uses peaches?

TRYING: to savor the last few days of my summer break. My contract starts again on August 12, and students start August 19. I have a to-do list set for this week, but I definitely need to put "visit the pool everyday" and "finish library books" at the top of the list!

SPEECHING: I'm gearing up for a new school year by organizing my therapy supplies, planning a few new Back to School blog posts, and some fun new activities to get to know my students. I'll be in a new district this year and I'm so, so excited for the change!

Don't forget to read everyone else's entries. If you aren't a blogger, just leave a comment below and tell me what you're Buying, Trying, and Speeching this month!

  1. I've never attempted to make jam...I think I'd be too afraid to mess it up! My favorite recipe with peaches? Does sangria count? :)

    1. My only experience is helping my sister make strawberry jam, so I'm a little nervous. Tomorrow's the day! I'll let you know how it goes :)

  2. Oooh, peach cobbler with Blue Bell ice cream! But Blue Bell is just a Texas thing, so I think you should come for a visit! I'm a week after you, I start on Aug. 19, and I think it's a great idea to savor the rest of summer! Thanks for linking up!

    1. Peach cobbler sounds delicious! Do you have a recipe to share? ;)

    2. I'm kind of picky about cobbler because my grandmother made great ones that had more pie crust strips than crumbles. This recipe is close: http://justshyofperfection.com/tag/underwoods-peach-cobbler/

  3. Hope jam making goes well- let us know :) Your start date seems so early, but then I remember that I start my contract for my assistantship then, too! Good luck preparing for and beginning the new school year!

  4. I've never had peach jam but we've had peach juice, peach wine, and peach crumb cake. My grandparents have 5 peach trees in their yard. Two were destroyed during Hurricane Sandy and the others aren't sprouting this year (sad face).. Good luck with the jam!

    1. Thanks! The jam turned out and 10/11 jars sealed :) The jam itself is too sweet for my taste, so I'll have to keep looking for different recipes.
