July SLP Link-Up

July already?! Oh man, this summer vacation is going too fast...I haven't even tackled 1/4 of my summer to-do list yet! Maybe if the temperature keeps on rising outside I'll be forced to stay inside and get.stuff.done.

I'm again participating in this month's SLP Link-Up party hosted by All Y'all Need (formerly Oh, How Pintearesting). You can find the deets and meet the other participants on the host page.

In July I am:

*Just Relaxing: I'm trying to enjoy the weather and the pool as much as I can. Soak up some rays, tend to my patio garden, take some evening walks, read on the patio...Summer is the best! My family also came to visit this past weekend and it was great showing them around town and enjoying time together.

*Using Craft Supplies: I love to make my own cards for birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, etc. May and June were really busy months with lots of cards needed...5 birthdays, 2 father's day cards, 1 wedding, 2 graduations. I didn't even clean up my crafting area for like two weeks! Now I'm enjoying crafts of a different sort.

I just had to add something crafty to spruce up our front door flower pot! I followed the directions on this website to make the pinwheels.

And I made a summery wreath for our front door. I've had this project in mind since May and finally buckled down to get it done. I modified the instructions on this website and this website to make the flowers.

*Loving Our Budget: In March/April, my husband and I took Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University class. We are LOVING having our budget organized each month. Our frivolous spending is way down and we aren't feeling hopeless under our student loans anymore, but we still have a budget to have fun each month. There's such a comfort knowing exactly where our money is going each month. It makes life easier.

I highly recommend taking this course. Even if you don't have debt, the class is full of wonderful tips for how to manage your money throughout your life in order to leave a legacy of giving to your children and your children's children. We can't wait to call Dave Ramsey up and yell, "WE'RE DEBT FREE!"

*Yummy Energy Balls: As my husband and I make an effort to eliminate sweets from our diets, we rely on these little bites of yumminess to cut cravings. They are sweet, but definitely better for you than packaged goodies, especially if you use quality/organic ingredients. Heart-healthy flax seed and oatmeal + natural sweetener from honey + antioxidants in dark chocolate = winner in my book!

    1. Take the class! It was so helpful and informative. We can't wait to apply the info we learned for the rest of our lives. Actually, we can't wait to be debt free, but one step at a time :)

  3. Sounds like you are having a productive summer. I love doing crafts in the summer. I still have a scrapbook to start for my daughter. Maybe I will be motivated soon.

    1. Thanks! I am not a scrapbooker, but really admire people who have the patience for that. Good luck! How old is your daughter?

    1. They are both fantastic! I was thinking last night (as I made another batch of the energy balls) that you could easily press the mixture into a pan and cut into bars instead of taking the time to roll into balls. I might try that next time :)
